I can easily recommend The Garden Cafe as a great place to grab a bite to eat. It was the first restaurant we ate at when we moved here and we have had breakfast or lunch there at least once per week ever since. It is our kid’s absolutely favorite place to go in town, liking it even more than TelePizza, primarily because of their dense, jungle-like courtyard and two massive hammocks. I mean, all he ever gets there is a grilled cheese sandwich, so it’s not like he’s really judging the place on it’s culinary merits.

Speaking of culinary merits, the food is consistently good. It is lighter fare, so you never walk out of there feeling like a greasy slob. If you’re looking for more of a diner style breakfast that really sticks to your ribs (and your waist) you should hit up Kathy’s Waffle House, but here at The Garden Cafe you’ll find lighter dishes like egg white and spinach omelettes or bagels with eggs and avocados. I certainly mean nothing negative against Kathy’s Waffle House. Their breakfasts are out of this world…but I did gain about 7 pounds our first week here that I can probably trace directly back to their mountains of scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries.
There’s a good reason why this was the first restaurant we visited here. The room we rented when we first arrived is owned by the same people and is right next door. In fact, it shares a wall with the cafe!
If you’re looking to visit Granada and just need room enough for two you should check the place out. It’s basically a one room efficiency. It’s got a comfortable four-poster bed, a lounging area with couch and tv, a bathroom and – very important for those not used to the climate here – an air conditioner.

We stayed here for about a week while waiting for our long term rental to become available and enjoyed every minute of it.
